Question Link doesn't work. Can article be posted here?

Interesting subject, but the link doesn't work. Can key parts of the article be posted here?

Does this mean that I should not keep watching ProfessionalYoga.com?

Yoga is centuries Indian old tradition. It should not be patened by anyone.

I don't understand why anyone would try to put a patent on something like yoga. It makes no sense to me.

In India with Yoga so many religious and spiritual and fitness values are attached. But when Yoga got popular in US, it mainly lost the other values attached to it.It became part of the fitness industry there, of course without all those values. It is this approach that must have led to all chaos now.

I would have to agree with that. It is just wrong that anyone would try to "patent" it.

It seems to be rather in bad taste for them to patent a cultural tradition.

On the other hand, companies have been patenting things like corn and soy beans. So the next logical step could be to patent holidays and such.

The biggest patent dispute I’ve seen involved that guy from Kal named Bikram who has openned a large franchise business for himself in U.S. and has patented his techique and I think a couple poses also.

See:
Yogis go to court over poses / Copyright dispute turns yoga into a legal exercise

Thanks DomainWalla for the link. Very interesting story. It reminds me of the overreaching in the domain world by corporate trademark holders.
