    Very good news!

But the article doesn't really state why India is bucking global trends. Any thoughts on that?

The ongoing recession in the USA has had very bad effect on Indian economy and employment. Many firms have started firing people in the name of cost cutting.

Turns out there are a number of fraudulent recruiting companies popping up as well during this time period. Desperate times call for desperate measures. A couple of firms have already ripped off a few people promising them a working visa if they leave India to come to America.

Although they say the US economy is rebounding we still have a tremendous unemployment rate in America. Unfortunately until this is corrected, there will continue to be a drastic effect on other countries.

India can and is bucking current trends because of 1 word-DEMAND! India is huge, and still has alot of development to reach and fulfill in many sectors of the economy. Look at China-they have had alot of growth, but they are still growing too. As India gets its overall economy streamlined, this growth should remain for several years at a good rate.

@dnpimping.com, it's a shame to hear about these fraudulent recruiting companies. Desperate times or not, unfortunately there will always be people out there hoping to scam and con others.

Agree with you, warbux. India is a huge nation with nearly a fifth of the world population and has the biggest market in the middle-income group - globally! More than 65% of the population is well under the age of 30 and catering to the needs (products and services) for this segment of the population, by itself, is quite a task to accomplish. Global trends does impact and does concern India, but not as much as it does to the rest of the world.

Most critical of all, India is gearing up to be one of the dominant Economic Super Powers of the 21st century!! There is so much to be done to reach to that position. And things have only just begun.

Good points Peoplenet! Honestly, If India and the internet don't make sense, then nothing will to me . Some LLL.ins currently make 10-100% of their reg fee back in a year. Can you imagine the traffic/revenue in 2-4 years? India is going to have the most internet users in 2013. Thats basically 3 years away, and thats not that far away. TRaffic is going to increase yearly, competition will increase too, and solid .in domains(i would advise LLLs or one worders,or nice brandables) should rise in price too. THe fact that you can reg a one word or LLL .in for $4.50 and it has the potential to sell for low $xx to very low $x,xxx just shows how robust INdia's growth is.My advice - Don't bother too much with the promo hype and chatter. People will still buy and develop .in names during and after the promotions.
