The Times of India reports that a fake website was set up at UniversityOfAllahabad.org.

It is worth mentioning here that the varsity officials came to know about the fake site only when a candidate submitted some of his academic details to this fake site, accessed results of some AU courses given on it and grew suspicious.
When I tried accessing the website it didn't resolve - perhaps it has already been taken down?

From Google cache, I see the website had a "student login" feature. Also, the "About Us" section probably misled readers into thinking they'd reached the official university website.

IMHO, registering domains like these will only lead to problems... Also, it's not entirely clear to me if the website was collecting data from students?
