Thread: Relaunch of India.com

According to afaqs!, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) is partnering with a US-based technology company. They will be relaunching India.com:

The site will be called India.com and will be the first horizontal portal from ZEEL. The site is currently registered in the name of a US based company called World Media Group. However, it couldn't be ascertained whether this is the US firm with which Zee has tied up.

Though the site, India.com, is already active but it is understood that it will be revamped with new content and user interface and then re-launched.

The sources also reveal that the new site will be launched in India in the next three months.

India.com one great domain name!

Does anyone know the domain sales history behind India.com?

It's good news that they launched new website India.com, but what will be theme of this site. This will be a news site or anything else.

According to this article, MMC bought India.com last year. No mention of purchase price!

Reports seem to suggest that India.com be a news/entertainment portal.

The relaunch of India.com has not yet happened, but here's an update from MediaNama. Looks like India.com will include aggregated content from websites that are part of the India.com portfolio of web portals:

CricketCountry.com - for fans of Indian cricket (they own the .in).

OnCars.in - On Cars India - news/info about cars, video car reviews etc.

IndianColleges.com - Indian college reviews, campus news, study notes etc.

Tamil.India.com - Tamil language portal. Tamil news. It plans to introduce a Bengali language portal as well.

Also, it appears that India.com is also planning to launch these two sites:

1) "Bollywood Life" (probably going to use BollywoodLife.in?) - Will be Indian version of HollywoodLife.com.

2) BGR.in - mobile/gadget website. Indian version of BGR.com.

Busy bees...

It's great that they are working on including content in Indian regional languages - that way they can pull in a wider audience. I think it's just a matter of time before we see more and more sites like these on the web.
