81 million internet users in India - that's high!

The population of the UK is only slightly over 60 million.

Jeff, be careful when trying to interpret numbers like 88 million internet users. Comparatively few Indians have computers in their homes, available to use 24/7. Most Indians nowadays have cell phones, only a percentage of which are internet capable.

Most Indians who use the net do so at internet cafes and similar rent-by-the-hour places. Many of these by-the-hour users are quite well educated about computers/the net and get maximum value out of their time online. But that's not the same as in-home internet 24/7.

India is growing fast economically, as we all know. But that doesn't mean all comparisons are comparable.

Hi iphone3g, are you asking how they obtained these numbers? If so, I think a lot of data is obtained via surveys, data collection records, and official sources etc. Are you looking for information on any particular statistics?

there are a million agencies which provide historical data..all you need to do is google India Statistics and what type of data you are looking for..

To get a better idea , you should actually buy and sell from the top ecommerce websites in India, you know how efficient the systems are. For many articles, they just compile data from multiple sources.
