The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing issued a press release today about an IDN conference they held:

Speaking at the Conference Shri N Ravi Shanker, Additional Secretary, DIT, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology highlighted the Government initiative in the promotion of Internationalized Domain Names and stressed that the Government of India is playing an important role to ensure that all the constitutionally recognized languages of India find their rightful place in the Internationalized Domain Names. India will be part of the elite club of countries offering IDNs and gTLDs in its mother tongues, he added.

I hadn't heard about this conference in advance, and can't seem to find anything about it on the CDAC website.

Oh! we received invitation for the same almost month in advance ? And this presentation on IDN is also done two months before in MUMBAI in registrar's meeting.

IN registry along-with CDAC is preparing for IDN launch and they are just weighing the software and other legal stuff.
