Thread: Domain Datestamp?

I recently tried to reg a domain name. The registrar showed the name as available.
It went all the way to confirm your payment. When I tried to confirm the payment, I saw an error message and the payment did not go through.

I tried again, again the registrar showed the name as available, again the same error.

I gave up and in the morning I checked the domain and it seems someone had registered the domain in 2001. The last update date shows as 02-Jan-2011.

So even if the domain was about it to be dropped (for whatever reason) and renewed should'nt the last update date show 28-Oct-2011?
