Found this article on DNAIndia site.
Google weighs $1 billion data centre in India - Money - DNA
What is interesting is:
"According to estimates by Google, there are about 40 million businesses of various sizes in India, of which just about 2 million are online in some way or the other."
If these estimates are even roughly accurate, we maybe in for some good time ahead.

Yes, I think there are some exciting times ahead for anything related to the Internet in India. This is just another great news story to back that sentiment up.

While so much international commerce in India is conducted in English, a large portion of Indians selling to other Indians is not.
The internet in India is a fascinating, fascinating thing. For my own dollar, I'm banking on English playing a significant role in many industries (pretty much the only ones I'm interested in anyway), but for low-dollar local commerce, it will be interesting to see what shape that takes.
