There's nothing like the simplicity of the .in.

Im sure there is a post about this, but I would love to get a list of words ending in .in... napk.in, virg.in, as I think out loud, i Google it and voila...

List words ending with in

wonder how many of these are taken... do you guys see any value to these. I let one of my domains go and see that someone has picked it up - mannequ.in

.in obviously has more selling power than .co.in. THis is not to say .co.ins are not valuable, but i would only bother with the best .co.ins you can find or buy. I still think price will help .co.in stablize, because its still cheaper than a .in, and that will make some Indians(and other indian internet investors) buy the .co.in over the .in. Look at the LLL situation. All the best LLL.ins are gone, but thats probably not the case for .co.in. Any extension that has a good/profitable LLL market, is a competitive extension. LLL.ins are literally the cheapest and MOST liquid domain assets out there right now. Many LLL.co.ins do get traffic, but the sales to end users and resellers has been lukewarm at best. I think .in is a more profitable extension than .co.in...generally.

indy - I hadn't known about that website - that's pretty cool!

I'm generally not a fan of hacks, but I think some domainers do well with them.

Indy,

Thanks for sharing this.

I think there are few words people who can remember domain name in parts like aspir.in, instead they might type in aspirin.in, or .com or even just google it. Marketing could make the difference but how many can be successful? Just a thought.

Yes..it seems to work for some domains..infact quite a lot of ccTLD domain sales happen if their letters form the 2 ending letters of a lot of dictionary words.. .IN, .ME, .IT etc are some examples..

Very useful information - thanks everyone for sharing their opinion!

I initially started investing heavily in the .co.in market and found some great type-in traffic names. That being said almost 90% of my purchases now are .in since I really think these are gaining momentum much quicker.

I have just crossed the $200K barrier in .co.in/.in sales , 95% of which were .co.in-taken 4 years though but a reasonable stat and I had/have a fairly good portfolio.

There is a growing market for both, .in widely accepted outside India .co.in more of a local flavour.

.in has the advantage of being shorter, can be India, Indonesia, Indiana and more importantly Internet.

.co.in traffic, certainly in my portfolio, is still way higher than .in.

Me- I like them both- in particular the ones that sell

Wow! That is great to hear and very inspiring. Do you mind if I ask where you've been most successful at finding buyers for your names? I have some very strong one-word generic domains and still trying to find where to best find buyers that know the true value of these names.

Thanks in advance!

A combination of forums, end user contacts, reseller contacts, bulk sales, you name it- all the accepted ways to produce sales.

I have a couple of sites but mainly in to buying and selling- more the latter than the former as "good' names hard to come by.

Away from ascii & India I am moving heavily in to idn.cn/idn.com (China) which hopefully will produce an even better result

Great - good to know. I own a company that does domain brokerage but am yet to find buyers that understand the real value of .in and .co.in domains.
