It's same central from Direct-I Registra, I think it's secure/safe enough. I didn't know their prices are much cheaper than other places, even Mitsu.in just during their promo.

I just signed up for an account at enames.

They do NOT accept payment via paypal or credit card.

If you are not in India, it looks next to impossible to fund your account. I'm not sure how well things work if you are in India, but even then, funding your account doesn't look instantaneous.

I'd recommend sticking with a registrar that has a payment gateway of some sort. It's hard for me to comprehend running an online business without this.

I do agree with Jeff, if there is no payment gateway .. I would run away ..

Here's another funny thing about enames - they didn't register their own domain. Instead they have registered their domain through a different registrar!

You are right Jeff I just check whois record of the domains enames.in and found that this was booked at Business Solutions a fellow company of Mitsu.in. When a registrar donot have his own domians in his account then how can we belive them to protect our domains ? with zone file I compare the reult and found that top five .in registrar ( including Mitsu) have more then 98% of registraton and all remaining odd 38 have the balance 2%, enames in particular have less than 50 domains and in last 6 months they registered only 10 domains ? Today I called them several times but they are not taking any phone since morning and now in afternoon somebody took the phone and said that owner is not yet came and we donot know anything about registration of .IN domains, person gave me owner's cell no.? then I called owner on cell phone he said that they will give credit manually in 24 hours and they will not give any credit directly in control panel as they will first check each and every domains before registrations only after they allow us to do registration ? they strictly say that they will not register any porno/company tm and other domains ?It seems they are running registry ?Now how we can trust them ? Cheaper is not better ? Confirm their details before registering with them ?

Well, this is an important point that you have pointed out..the credibility of the provider is very very important..especially when it comes to online business..

I registered with eNames and tried reigstering about 20-odd domains in 1-go and there was cache error blah blah. I called the listed support number and the same story - owner name xyz and his cell no. is xyz, call him.
I emailed them and till date no reply. No online payment mechanism!

Next I tried with 1 domain...but still had errors so emailed..till date no reply! Multiple funding options not sure how things work... needs manual intervention though using Google checkout. I am using this for the first time but can't get my head around it.

eNames and Mitsu seem to be resellers for the same registrar as their interface resembles each other. As you guys mentioned that Mitsu has 98% of .in registrations, I am waiting for their support to get back to me.

Like I mentioned before, they are not cheap - .in at Rs.749, but their support so far has been very good. One of the owners/ founders even called me because I purchased some 100+ domains from them. So, they are small yet prompt support and response to emails.

Please keep this thread going as it is insightful.

Jeff, can we have a section on registration, discounts etc?

Where can one find resources on registration process and how secure it is to use one registrar over another? What are the pros and cons? Is it enough just to find one's name on the whois database, or are there factors to be considered whom we register through?
