Question Would Your Domain Pass the Radio Test?

While I was listening to the radio today, the DJ advertised a website which he invited listeners to check out. The problem was I couldn't understand the website name. The DJ just quoted the website name and did not spell it (which is the norm). This got me thinking about the importance of the radio test. Hub Pages provides a good example of this test:

Quote:
Lets say you heard a radio advertisement for carz-4-u.com, an imaginary business who has just paid a corporate consultant a small fortune to come up with this fantastically unique name.

Where would you go to find their website?

* carsforyou.com or maybe

* cars-for-you.com or

* cars4you.com or perhaps

* carsforu.com

Eventually you might guess it.
I eventually figured out the name of the website by do some searches on Google. Advertisers should make it easy, not hard, for visitors to find them.

Do you consider the radio test when you buy your domains? Food for thought...

Well it depends but most of my domains are pretty clear and aren't having any underscores or similar. But yes you have a very valid point and it would help many new guys in this business.

Good information pal. Well I don't develop anything around my domains. I plainly sell them. So I don't think its much important to me but surely its a good new parameter.
