Great Indian Hand Reg Names Still Available!
Well I know I am sounding like a broken record but I will keep on saying it as I see it and hopefully it will do some good.
I keep saying on my blog at ozdomainer.com and in this forum that there are still some GREAT one and two word hand reg .co.in & .in names available if you spend some time and effort looking.
Today I hand registered bambooflooring.in & bambooflooring.co.in
This is a MASSIVE world wide industry and it is getting stronger every year.
HELLO Corporate India!! Wake up and smell the roses people because domainers like me are registering your prime business names right under your noses.
Here are some of the other major TLD's & ccTLD's that have been registered for the phrase "bamboo flooring"

I cannot believe that a company in India that deals in this massive market for Bamboo Flooring has not registered these names years ago.
It just goes to show that you should never assume that a domain is taken, always check just to make sure.
Here are some other domains that I hand registered today -
hdcamcorder.in
hdcamcorder.co.in
hdcamcorders.co.in
hdcamcorders.in
hdvcamcorder.co.in
hdvcamcorder.in
Those that tell you all the good domains are gone are full of it!!
It ain't over till the fat domainer sings!
Oh and by the way the top site on Google worldwide for the phrase "bamboo flooring" is bambooflooring.biz which also goes to show that you don't have to have the best TLD to kick ass on Google!
Happy domain hunting!

Re: Great Indian Hand Reg Names Still Available!
Good going Ed! Whenever I have a few extra dollars lying around in my paypal account, I try to hand register a few domains. I think that with the keywords being so good, like in your examples, it is going to pay off.
Too funny! Sitting in front of the computer all day with easy access to the fridge isn't the healthiest...It ain't over till the fat domainer sings!
Absolutely true. In the past, I would have agreed that TLD doesn't matter for ranking in Google. Now, there's some evidence that Google is at least looking into this changing this. But for .in I don't think this matters much. Also, I've found that .in sites rank much better in Google.co.in, which is presumably the audience it's aimed at.Oh and by the way the top site on Google worldwide for the phrase "bamboo flooring" is bambooflooring.biz which also goes to show that you don't have to have the best TLD to kick ass on Google!

Re: Great Indian Hand Reg Names Still Available!
I am sure you will strike some great deals soon but your take on indian corporates is pretty poor. Most corporates who deal in conventional offline businesses use internet for nothing more than email and VOIP etc. They don't care for domains and stuff. They would mostly have their website with single domain. They don't pay a damn about it and yet they are successful.
Bajaj doesn't need to book bikes.com or .in
Mahindra doesn't need to book pickups.com or .in
and on and on and on...

Re: Great Indian Hand Reg Names Still Available!
I hear what you are saying indona!
The businesses that I am dealing with in India do actually "get it"
What you are saying could also go for business in the US that sell "Bikes" thinking that bikes.com would not be a major asset to their business. Its just crazy talk!
I am dam sure if you gave Hilton Hotels, Marriott, Hyatt etc etc etc a chance to buy hotels.com today for what they could have picked it up for 10 or 15 years ago ( but they also didn't care for domains and stuff) they would have the cash in front of you quick as a flash.
India is no different at all, just because some Indian business owners are ignorant to the internet and domain names does not mean that it still wont happen right in front of them just as many ignorant business globally are now only just waking up to domain names and the traffic and customers that they can bring.
These businesses that you talk about that "don't pay a damn about it" are the very same ones that will be crying about it in 5 years when they get left in the dust buy the businesses that do understand the internet and how it has and will change even more how the world does business.
I am already starting to take business away from these very people you talk about.
Hey the longer these fools stick to the old ways of doing things the better it will be for the businesses that do "get" the internet.
Here is a very small sample list of companies that do "get it" and own their generic domain / domains that are in their target market.
Wake up Corporate India, I think these companies can teach you a thing or two.

Re: Great Indian Hand Reg Names Still Available!
WOW OD a really really impressive answer to my post. Thanks for the information. Most of the domains in your above list are used only for forwarding to the original websites. What I meant to say is that these domains just help in internet branding. It may help to new players in a segment but established players aren't affected due to it.

Re: Great Indian Hand Reg Names Still Available!
Yes Branding is a part of it but do you think they may get a huge amount of TRAFFIC as well

YES, YES, YES is the answer and its all about numbers the more traffic the better and those domains will get type in traffic buy the truck load.
Traffic first, branding a distant second in my books!
I know many companies that have gone broke spending good money after bad on "branding".
Rick Schwartz would know, after all he doesn't call his domain conference "B.R.A.N.D.I.N.G" its called "T.R.A.F.F.I.C" which is what those names in the list are all about.
The branding part is already done buy having a "Generic" name that everyone knows already such as "Books" or "Hotels" etc, etc ,etc NO Branding Required for those type of names.

Re: Great Indian Hand Reg Names Still Available!
Million Dollar Question is when would the corporate come forward to buy them and when would folks strike rich!!! With easy variations available, not many would actually sit down to negotiate to get the domain or even participate in auctions. By variations I mean if i dont' get Bajaj.in - i always have a choice to opt for HumaraBajaj.in
Cheers
