Thread: Domain marketplaces blocked in India

It seems sedo.co.uk & buydomains.com are blocked by ISPs. I am getting following message on opening links of domain listings having these domains:

"This website/URL has been blocked until further notice either pursuant to Court orders or on the Directions issued by the Department of Telecommunications"

My ISP is Airtel. Is anyone else encountered this problem ?

Did you tried to use Google's DNS? 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4

Are you from India and able to access these 2 sites ?

Just checked, sedo & buydomains are just returning as Empty response. i am using Vodafone Connection and Google DNS from India.

Looks like they are blocking any address with sedo word in it. Like http://sedo.co.uk Is Up -> Check if your website is up or down? is also returing same response.

But I am able to open Sedo.co.uk by using its IP address
http://82.98.86.182/uk/home/welcome/?tracked=&partnerid=&language=e
or
http://82.98.86.182

For Buydomains, it is
http://64.95.64.68/

Both sites are working fine by using these IP addresses.

You can find/verify any site's IP address by using ping in dos..

Start>Run>cmd (Enter)
Ping Google (Enter)

You will see the IP address. Append http:// to IP address and use it in any browser.

But I would like to know why DOT has blocked these sites ? Does anybody has any idea ?

just opened sedo.com from both BSNL broadband and Reliance . Both are working fine.
But sedo.co.uk and buydomains seem to be blocked.

sedo.com was working at my end as well... but sedo.co.uk & buydomains.com are blocked.

Not facing any problem opening sedo.com / sedo.co.uk , it seems only a few ISPs are blocking the domains.
